The United Nation Refugee Agency published an update about the actual situation of migration to Europe. As of 30 September 2016, more than three hundred thousand persons had crossed the
Mediterranean Sea to Europe. Around one hundred seventy thousand -169,459- estimated sea arrivals were in Greece, around one hundred sixty thousands -158,062- in Italy. Out of those arriving only in Italy till september nineteen thousand 19,001 are estimated to be unaccompanied and separated children.
The estimated number of people who have died or gone missing at the sea in 2016 till october is already almost four thousand 3,930. The spokesman of the UN Refugee Agency calls 2016 as the deadliest year yet. In 2015 the number of known dead was 3,771.
Poverty, environmental disasters, war, dictatorship, exploitation supported by Europe force people this days to leave their countries. Europe protects itself, not to share the wealth it is accumulating through exploitation of labour and resources in other countries. Through laws, hostile policies towards immigrants, military forces and Frontex – the European Border Agency – Europe tries with all means to prevented people to come to Europe.
Last Thursday, 27 october again a small boat in front of the lybian border sunk. Too many people were sitting in the small boat so the plastic was ripping off and water could get into the boat. Almost 100 people are missing.
